Developing Staff While Meeting Resident Needs

We have been implementing new employee development programs, such as our Care Assistant-to-Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) transition program. We recently hired a number of qualified candidates as care assistants. In this role, employees cater to our residents and assist nursing staff without providing direct care to the residents. Beginning in this role allows enthusiastic individuals to develop in-depth experience in a healthcare setting. In order to meet our facility’s nursing staff needs, we have incentivized the care assistant position by sponsoring the new hires’ tuition to become CNAs at either Lake Superior College or Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College. This educational program allows care assistants to work with the residents during their schooling, and guarantees them a job upon successful completion of their course. Currently we have twelve employees enrolled in the program, and look forward to sharing their success stories in the future.
